Unlock Cell Phone For Free

You bought a cell phone from eBay, CraigsList or given by someone, popped in you SIM card, too bad the phone is locked to original carrier. You need to unlock it. Here is how to unlock cell phone for free of charge.
  1. Call the carrier (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon or other) where the phone was issued. United_States_wireless_providers
This is a very frustrating process. You may need to listen the instructions given by machine and speak back to it, many times, that thing doesn't understand you at all and even disconnect you. But keep trying it until you get to speak an agent.

  2. Tell the service agent that you want to place a SIM Unlock Request. Usually, they only serve their own customer, who has an account with them, for recording purpose. Because my cell phone use T-Mobile and home line is AT&T, I can call them with my account number for unlocking devices locked by them. You should ask a friend to do it for you if you have no relationship with the company where the cell phone was issued and you want to unlock it.

  3. You will be asked for brief information about the phone, like brand, model but definitely IMEI number which you may not know and the person should instruct you finding it.

  4. If you are asked for a reason of unlocking the phone, say that you are going to Asia (or somewhere you know that they do not have services) next month and you need to use local SIM card in your phone.

  5. And you need to provide an valid email address for receiving the Unlock Code and Instructions of doing it.

  6. Wait for the email, it usually takes less than 24 hour. Do the steps according to the email. Done.
